JOIN THE LINCOLNSHIRE PLUMBING TEAM
Not always hiring
but we’re always looking.
If you're the kind of engineer who finds "that'll do" genuinely difficult to accept, read on...
FROM STEVE
I'll be straight with you, because that's how we do things here.
We're a small team and right now we're not actively recruiting. But the right person comes along because they found you, liked what they saw, and thought: that's the kind of place I want to work.
So this page exists for that person.

THE REALITY
What Lincolnshire Plumbing actually looks like
from the inside
We're a small residential plumbing and heating specialist based in Nettleham. Steve founded the business ten years ago after eighteen years in the RAF, not because he wanted to run a big company, but because he wanted to run a good one.
We work in people's homes. That matters, shoe covers go on at the door, explanations get given before work starts, quotes are itemised line by line so customers know what they're paying for. If something goes wrong, and sometimes things go wrong, we ring the customer before they ring us.
Jobs are allocated based on capability, not convenience. If you're ready to take the lead on something technical, you will. If you need more experience with something first, you'll get it with proper supervision rather than being thrown in and hoped for.
We invest in training because the industry moves and we intend to move with it. Worcester Bosch courses, manufacturer training days, qualifications that matter, not because we have to but because we think it's the right thing to do. If you want to keep learning, this is a good place to be.
We're not a stepping stone or a franchise. We're not a volume operation that measures success by how many jobs get done in a day. We measure it by whether the customer would recommend us without hesitation and whether the engineer who did the job is someone we'd be happy to send back.
What working here looks like in practice
01.
Varied work. No two weeks the same.
Residential plumbing and heating covers a wide range, boiler installations, central heating design, air conditioning, unvented hot water, smart controls, diagnostics and repair. The kind of work that keeps you sharp.
02.
Training that's worth something.
We book onto manufacturer courses and invest in qualifications that matter. If there's something you want to train in and it makes sense for the business, we'll talk about it.
03.
Supervision that's actually supervision.
Not someone standing over your shoulder, someone who checks your work, answers your questions, and gives you more responsibility as you earn it.
04.
Real progression for the right people.
We're building a small, elite team, which means as that team grows, there's real progression available. More responsibility, more autonomy, better earnings. We'll be honest with you about what that looks like and on what timescale.
05.
A place where your standards actually matter.
Not as an abstract value on a wall, as the thing that determines whether you're trusted with more, paid more and given more. We notice the difference between an engineer who checks their work and one who doesn't. It doesn't go unrewarded.
What we’d need
from you.
The technical foundation has to be there. But beyond that, character matters as much as credentials, and it's harder to teach.
Gas Safe registered, City and Guilds qualified
With genuine residential plumbing and heating experience. The foundation has to be solid.
Someone whose default is to do things right
Who communicates clearly with customers. Who takes accountability when something needs following up. Who finds sloppy work irritating rather than acceptable.
Effort, honesty and care
We don't expect perfection. We do expect these three things, they're harder to teach than technical skills, which is why we look for them first.
Experience with AC, unvented or smart controls
Useful but not essential. If you've got the foundation and the attitude, the rest can be developed.
If you're earlier in your career and serious about learning the trade the right way, we're worth getting in touch with. We take on the right people at the right stage, not just fully-formed engineers.
